Roy closed his eyes as the black substance flew towards him. When he opened them again it was burning in his eyes and it required more strength to move now. He grabbed tight to the swords and managed to get them out of the creatures head again.
Then something hit his head. It was a hard blow and he barely could hold his breath. He couldn`t give up now. Not down here. He raised the swords in front of his head to avoid another hit. Then he made his way towards Kieru who was still surrounded with the tentacles. He didn`t reach anything besides that the creature was trying to kill him also.
Another tentacle flew towards him, but because of the way he blocked it, with the swords crossed before his face, the tentacle got separated from the monsters body by its own.
Roys mind went blurry because of the lack of oxygen. He was able to avoid teh tentacles because of gods sake the monster couldn`t sense him that easy in the mixture of water, blood and goo. Then he reached Kieru and with his last powers he sliced the last tentacles that linked Kieru to the monsters body.
Now exactly like Roy thought, Kieru slowly moved towards the surface because the tentacles that surrounded Kieru weren`t linked with the creature anymore and all its organs were lighter than water.
Roy managed it somehow with his last strength to follow Kieru to the surface. As they both reached the fresh air again Roy took a deep breath and grabbed onto the grassland next to the lake where he nearly fainted and wasn`t able to pull hisself out of the lake.

"Roy! Kieru!" Billy called, seeing Roy rise to the surface, but Kieru seemed to still be just under, almost as if floating down again. Billy reached out and touched Roy's hand. "Grab her up here." He said as he removed his hand again, hoping Roy would notice he had a bit extra energy now.

Roy opened his eyes breathing heavily. Since Billy touched him he could feel his fingers again and his mind went clearer. But before wasting any strength on speaking he turned around to grab Kierus arm and drag her on the dry land again. Then he climbed out of the water too and freed Kieru from the rest of the dead tentacles of the monster. And then.... he finally knew it was over.
But before he could finally rest Roy leaned over to Kieru to see if she was alright "Hey.. Kieru" Roy said weakly "Are you ....okay ?"

Kieru's body lay motionless on the grass, not breathing. Her lungs were filled still with the black goo and water, a thin coating of the goo still around all over her body, slowly seeming to leak off a little bit but not all that much. Her heartbeat was rather slow but still there, maybe only hardly noticeable.

Roy's eyes widen as he noticed that Kieru wasn`t breathing anymore and he looked at the he motionless body. Then he lifted his own body up and kneeled beside her still breating heavily. He placed the palms of his hands on her chest and started to bear down hoping that this would help to get the water out of her lungs. After he did that a few times he leaned down to her mouth to see if she was breating again. "Kieru.. come on..." he whispered.

Small traces of water and goo seemed to pulse from her lips and leak out the side, but most of it had still remained within her lungs. The goo around her body kept a sort of body heat in her so she wouldn't end up going cold, it would be warm to the touch. Kieru still remained unconscious.

Kieru was still unconscious and Roy was sure that she still had water in her lungs. So he had just one possibility.
Roy put Kieru's head back and placed his left hand on her nose while he opened her mouth with his right hand. Then he took a deep breath, leaned down to her and placed his mouth on hers. He blew the oxygen into her lungs then lifted hisself up and started to bear down on her chest with the palms of his hands again hoping that she would wake up or show any sign of life this time.

Slightly larger amounts of water and black goo spurted up through her throat and out of her mouth, leaking down her cheeks. Still, however, Kieru's body was unable to breath. There still remained a fair amount of the water and goo in her lungs, her body still coated with the black goo.

"Kieru... wake up..." Roy said hopeful watching the black goo and water coming out of her mouth.
Roy repeated the whole thing over and over again not wanting to give up on her.

Each time Roy repeated, more and more of the goo and water spurted out of her mouth like a fountain, until small coughing noises could be heard. Small traces of air slowly began to seep in through her throat and coughs filled with more bits of water and goo kept coming, getting slightly. Kieru still remained unconscious, her breath keeping this small recovery until it seemed to stop again after a bit more coughing.

Roys eyes widen as he saw that Kieru showed first signs of life. He clenched his fists hoping that she would make it though "Come on... I know that you can make it!" he whisperd slowly.
Then Kieru wasn`t moving at all again and all hope Roy had died with it. "NO!!" he almost shouted "Why can`t she just wake up??" his voice was panicking. "Billy?...can you help her somehow?" Roy asked him while he couldn`t get his eyes off from the unconscious Kieru.

"I.. I don't know..." Billy said quietly, worried about Kieru. He let his scythe on the ground behind him and moved a bit closer. "This goo doesn't seem friendly though...." He said a bit quietly as he placed a bony hand on Kieru's forhead. Slowly, the black goo still coating Kieru's body began to gather up under his hand until her body was cleared of the goo.
Billy moved the blob of goo he'd collected in his hand and moved it off to the side, still looking somewhat worriedly at Kieru. "Try that thing again... She seemed to respond to it before."

Roy nodded and leaned down to her again worrying about Kieru and still not embarrassed at all which suprised himself a bit. So he repeated the mouth to mouth reanimation again.

As Kieru's lungs were filled with air again, she started coughing once more, the remaining bits of goo and water spurting out of her mouth until she turned her head, still coughing and moving over to her side, placing a hand on the ground to stabilize herself as she coughed it out, managing to breath again and rolled onto her back again.
Her eyes still remained closed as her face cringed a bit from the pain as she coughed a couple more times before raising her arm and placing a hand to her forhead, waiting for her breathing to calm down.
It took a minute of breathing to calm herself as Kieru let her hand down again and opened her eyes, looking up to see Billy and Roy. Kieru closed her eyes a moment as she sat up, remembering the event in the lake.
"Thank you..." Kieru whispered, her body feeling rather exhausted, remembering the darkness of a moment ago. "You didn't have to save me... I'm sorry for being a bother. You could've been killed by it." She added in a whisper also as she couldn't speak any louder at the moment.
Kieru stared down at the grass below her, a blank look on her face as she thought, hating that she had been a burden to someone and nearly risked his life.

Roy sighed in a relief as Kieru started coughing and slowly lifted herself up. "No need to apologize. It could have had hapened to anybody." Roy replied to her as he placed his right hand on her shoulder as Kieru was turing away from him. "And should I had witnessed you dying down there? I just had to save you.... thats what friends are for" he added with a smile and removed the last bit of black goo around his mouth with his left hand which was the last remain of Kieru's reanimation.
