Kieru had been wandering through the nearby woods that bordered the great fields. She had been off training, trying to regain some of the mass of strength that she had lost to this tentacle creature in a lake in another realm. She still hadn't improved all that much, even though she'd been training every day for weeks already. She knew it would take a long time to get back everything she lost that day.
She was grateful to Roy and the small reaper Billy for saving her life, but she hated to feel like she was indebted to someone or too helpless to save herself.
As she walked through the woods now, she began to hear a voice from a person and some noise from a creature she could not yet see. She continued to walk, coming to the edge of the woods to see a beautiful dragon and it's companion not to far away in the fields.
She looked down at herself for a moment, knowing she was not entirely presentable after training, but shook the thought away and began to walk forward. Tyr had suggested for her to speak with other riders before receiving the honour of becoming one herself. Although she wasn't particularly comfortable with this, she would do what it would take to become a rider herself.
As she approached, her eyes remained locked on the dragon, her breath slowing somewhat. They really are magnificent creatures, she thought.
When she was close enough, she stopped and looked towards the rider. "Good afternoon. I apologize for intruding, but I was wondering if you could answer me something." She said, having run through this line, what to say, her whole way over in her head.

Iku was hugging the nose of her dragon when the woman before her spoke.
"Good afternoon. I apologize for intruding, but I was wondering if you could answer me something.
Iku then turned towards Kiara, and back to the girl widedeyed. It wasnt often that someone wanted to ask Iku of all people a question. Letting go of Kiara she then turned her attention towards the woman.
"Uh, sure, what can I help you with" she said smiling

Kieru looked towards the dragon, giving a small nod as a way of greeting then looked at the woman again. "I am hoping to become a dragon rider sometime soon. I was told to speak with other riders to find out more. I suppose anything you could tell me about being a rider would be helpful." She said plainly, not really sure what to ask.

Iku brought her hands up to her chin.
"Hm.." said Iku as she tried to think of words to describe
"well... I can honestly say, it opens up alot of options" she struggled to find words.
how was she to know that someone would ask her to tell her a little bit about dragon riders, if anyone, Tyr is the one to ask.
"A great thing is, your never alone, no matter how far apart you are from you dragon, They stay with you, you're thoughts become her/his thoughts, and their thoughts, become your thoughts. Your dragon will be the best companion you will ever have, for no one will understand you better." said Iku looking up at Kiara
Kiara then nugded the woman before her.
'The bond between you and your dragon will surpass any other bond you will ever encounter, for we are literally one' Said Kiara telepathically
Iku nodded in agreement, as she stumbled to think of what to say.
" any questions so far?"asked Iku

Kieru listened closely. Tyr had spoken of this bond as well, she recalled. In truth, the idea of not being alone in her mind was something she would have to get used to, as she had been alone for so long now it seemed almost a troubling feat now.
She thought about the dragons words as well, surprised for a moment to have heard the dragon speak to her telepathically. Surpass any other bond, she repeated in her head. Her thoughts drifted over to her village. True, the thing about this that frightened her most would be to lose it again. The thought of creating a new bond was something she had avoided since departing her destroyed village and she never considered the idea since. Could she handle another bond, especially with any risk of somehow losing it?
She looked to the large dragon. Her dragon partner would be as magnificent and durable as this beautiful one before her, right?
She closed her eyes for a moment to take in a breath and compose herself and wipe away those thoughts before she looked at the woman before her again.
"Forgive me, I did not introduce myself. My name is Kieru." She said, wanting to be polite. It seemed odd to her to be asking this woman questions without even knowing each other's names. "Yours?" She asked, using the one word to refer to the both of them.

Iku smiled as she didnt even notice that she had forgotten to ask her name.
"Oh, My name is Iku and this is Kiara" said Iku as she then smiled.
'A pleasure to meet you Kieru' said Kiara as she slightly bowed her head in respect.
Iku then smiled. She had an idea.
"Have you ever.... wanted to fly" Iku then suddenly asked

Kieru nodded at the both of them after hearing their names. She looked at Iku for a moment before responding. "I've thought about what it would be like to fly before." She said as she watched her, not really sure where Iku was going with this question.

Iku then took Kieru and threw her onto Kiara.
Iku smirked devilishly.
"Kieru, we're going to for for a fly" said Iku as she then jumped on to kiara's back.
And with that they took off. Gaining speed with each minute.

Kieru's eyes widened in surprised as she was tossed onto this dragon's back as the three of them then took off into the air. She watched around her with surprised wonder, feeling the dragon carrying them under her. She looked down at Kiara, marveling at the magnificent being then looked forward.
She felt the wind in her face. It was nice. Kieru closed her eyes. How long had it been since she silently felt the wind in her face like this? Her breathing slowed to a steady pace and her face relaxed to a very serene expression. She remembered the feeling of riding on horses backs through mountains, though the feeling couldn't compare to now it was the closest memory she had to this feeling.
Kieru looked back down at the dragon. What would it be like to share one mind with a beauteous creature such as this, she wondered. She closed her eyes again. She felt like she wouldn't mind flying forever. Her thoughts abruptly came to a halt as another thought entered her mind. She opened her eyes again, staring straight forward.
Why did she just think of those people? Those people that she could never bring into the air like this. Those people who had long been gone and could never return. Her loved ones that she would have to live her life for since they no longer had one to live themselves. She should never forget them in the air. She should never forget any of them or the lessons they had taught her.
Her face hardened somewhat again as she watched straight ahead of her. She wasn't going to cry. She had no tears. She simply closed her eyes and took a deep breath to compose herself again. She stared ahead again.
New bonds? New friends? All just as fragile. Could she handle it if something were to go wrong, she questioned herself. She had no answers. She just thought as they flew. She knew this was what she wanted but she also knew that accepting this and living with this decision would be permanent and possibly terrifying. Yet, it could also be joyous. Did she deserve to be joyful again? Did she deserve happiness? Could happiness even be reached?
Her thoughts were beginning to annoy her. She looked up at the sky above them then down at the ground below. They were so high. The wind still felt so nice. This feeling was....... Something she wanted more of.
She knew in that moment that she wouldn't turn back. She had gone to Tyr and had spoken so assuredly. She was sure now. Where doubts had clouded her mind, she was certain. She had to be. Nothing would make her turn back now. Fearing sadness in her own life was stupid, of course. She questioned her idiocy for a moment. Her life was meant to be lived for others. To bring peace and joy into the lives of others. Yet she had been failing for so long now because she was afraid to let these bonds connect to her again.
This bond.... This ultimate bond could be exactly what she might need to move on in who she was and will become. To be strong again. She stared straight ahead with the wind in her face. The smallest trace of an unnoticeable smile relaxed itself onto her face. How long had it been, she wondered. She closed her eyes as she let the wind relax her face once more.

Iku turned around to face Kieru, who had this relaxed look on her face. Iku smiled in turn she remembered her first dragon ride. It was at Mt. Rei, and of course Iku being the first one accepted as a dragon rider, her first dragon ride was with Tyr, the one who had brought the whole thing to DD.
"Faster!" yelled Iku turning around to Kieru once more
"Having fun?" Iku asked cheerfully

Kieru opened her eyes as she heard Iku's voice. She looked at the rider, her face still somehow relaxed. She felt a small trace of blood flowing into her cheeks but nothing noticeable at all. Fun, she thought. "Something like that." She answered, not sure if fun was the right word. She wondered for a moment if this person along with other dragon riders she would meet soon would become new bonds in her life.
She watched Iku for a moment. "Thank you, Iku." She said, truly feeling grateful for this woman allowing her the experience. She wasn't much used to receiving gifts like these from people as she had come from a village that gave everything without expecting anything in return. She would have to do something for Iku, she thought.

Iku smiled back.
"No problem" Said Iku as she then looked upon Kieru
'Kiara, above the clouds, please' thought Iku as she then
Kiara coo'ed as she then flew towards the clouds. As she finally got just to the clouds, Kiara then spoke
'hang on tight' said Kiara telepathically.
Kiara then went with full speed into the clouds flapping her wings give more force. As she then made it threw, Kiara started hovered above the clouds for a second. Then dashing forward. Kiara was had passed the clouds just to where you could see all of DD!
"Great view, ne?" said iku chipper

Kieru watched the area, staring at everything. Her face was still serene as she marveled over the view. "Incredible." She said quietly as she looked around below them.

Iku smiled as she signaled Kiara to head downward. Kiara did just that and the next thing they knew they were flying along side a river.
"WATERFALL!!!" yelled Iku in excitement
and with that Kiara then flew down the water fall. Kiara then came to a stop. Landing on the ground. Iku then smiled hoping off. She then turned to Kieru to help her down.
"exciting for you?" asked Iku

Kieru watched the water as they passed, taking in a deep breath before they swooped down the waterfall. She followed Iku off Kiara's back after the landed. "It was a great experience, thank you." Kieru said respectively with a nod of her head to both Iku and Kiara.
