Name: Rayna
Race: Human
Age: 17
Class/Occupation: specialist in emotion sensing/controlling, strategist, defensive
Background: Rayna was born in Israel, surrounded by a group of deeply religious people. She was born with a special gift of feeling the emotions of nature and living beings around her and being able to control those emotions in others by giving off her own special emotional aura. When she was young and did not yet know how to control this power, those around her would fall ill and plants would die when she was upset or sad. The towns people all scorned her, blaming her 'gift' and proclaiming it to be a curse on their lives. She was chased away from the town at the young age of seven and left a trail of dead earth in her path. She was found asleep in front of a small church a few countries away by a priest with a big heart. He picked up the small sleeping girl and took her into his church, waiting near her as he let her sleep on the church benches. When she awoke, he explained how he found her and she in turn explained how her life had been since birth. The priest started to cough, slowly getting obviously sick from Rayna's sour mood. She apologized quickly, trying to stop her terribly depressed mood from hurting him.
The old priest went over to her and held her shoulders, smiling caringly towards the girl. In that instant, Rayna felt the emotions surging off of the priest in front of her. Slowly, she started to smile back. A good emotion finally worked its way through her body and the priest began to get better. As soon as she found out her good moods can heal what her bad moods destroyed, she slowly worked with the help of the priest to train her body and mind to never fall into a negative mood. It was hard, of course, but she eventually succeeded at remaining somewhat positive in nearly any situation. She was able to feel everyone's emotions and had found that she was also able to control their emotions and calm them when they were angry or sad so their negative emotions wouldn't trigger her own.
As soon as she managed to control this talent with ease, at the age of fourteen, she returned to her old town. She traced the path of dead earth all the way back, reviving the plantation around her as she went. When she made it there, the people instantly were able to recognize it and were started to rage toward her with weapons again. She took a deep breath then smiled at the oncoming mob, throwing out as much positive energy as she could muster. As soon as they reached near enough, a good feeling washed over all the towns people and they resigned from their urge to attack her. They noticed the plants around her living and growing instead of dying and they all then dropped to their knees, begging forgiveness. They explained that their town had not been thriving and most of the people kept getting sick since she left. She offered to heal them and as she did, they all gratefull thanked her. Rayna was filled with such joy that she couldn't be happier. That is, until they decided to use her powers for war.
Over the next year and a half, Rayna was forced into the front lines as a defensive to calm the oncoming armies and take away their emotions of anger and hate so they wouldn't attack. She almost died a number of times before she fell. Unable to keep her negative emotions at bay, Rayna dropped to her knees in the middle of a huge battle field and let out an agonized cry. She had been so overwhelmed with terrifying, depressing and hateful emotions that a mass of the armies around her dropped to the ground, illness swiftly taking over them until they died.
Not wanting to take these emotions to other places with her, she let out all of her horribly negative emotions out right there. Anyone who dared get too close into the span of her emotional aura ended up dead like the rest. It took days of her sitting in that place until she managed to calm herself. She felt dead inside. Dead, like everything around her.
She lay on her back, staring up at the sky, the last of her tears trickling out of her eyes as she slowly fell asleep. The dark aura dispersed as she woke up again, calmer as she sat up, rain pouring and washing the scent of death away into the earth. She forced a smile and a small good feeling inside of herself and touched her hands against the ground, closing her eyes. Slowly, all of the dead earth around her began to revive. Unfortunately, dead vegetation was all she could revive. Whatever humans and animals that had died during her mass of negative emotions remained dead. she stood, forcing herself to continue smiling and pulling a good feeling into herself as she wiped her eyes, slowly beginning to walk away from the horror scene, her body weak from fatigue and cold from the rain.
She eventually found her way back to the church she that had saved her and went in to pray. The priest found her there and hurried over to her, hugging her tightly like a father that had finally been reunited with a run away daughter. As soon as she fell into his arms, she couldn't stop the tears that began to flow. He wiped her tears away with a smile, forcing himself to be happy in her presence. She couldn't help the negative overflow of her emotions and he soon fell ill. Upon seeing this, Rayna panicked. She didn't want to lose the only person who truly cared about her and started to focus again to be happy, but it was little use. By the time she managed to force enough of a smile, the negative sickness had already hit his heart and he died.
Rayna laid over his dead body, crying again for quite a while, glad that no one entered the church while she was being all negative like this. After a few hours, she managed to force a smile again. It took all she had to force away her negative emotions and be happy. Something in her mind had broken and she instead fell emotionless. She couldn't remember emotions of either happy or sad. Everything was just purely neutral. She stood up and looked down at her dead adopted father then looked towards the door and ran.
She ran as far and as fast as she could, trying to just get away anywhere. She traveled through many countries until she eventually found this strange school. She decided she might as well attend, she had no place else to go and nothing else to live for. She wondered if maybe she would find a reason here. For, if she couldn't, or if she were to kill one more person, she would rid the world of herself.
Personality: Rayna cares about all forms of life and feels their emotions deeply. There is much she would try to do for some form of life form to make their lives a little easier. Her control over emotions can only go so far. She dislikes cruelty of any form and views herself as a wicked, evil monster only capable of destruction. In fact, she views her negative self, her positive self and her neutral self as three different people. Her negative self, which has so often consumed her life, is wicked and must die as soon as she is able to destroy it. Her positive self, the best healer, though never good enough to bring back any human or animal that has already died. Her neutral self, the quiet middle ground between two extremes that keep emotions within a room balanced. She is deeply torn between who she feels she is and who she should be. So much so that something in her mind seemed to have broken, leaving her a neutral nothing. Still, she tries hard as she can to never be negative and at least emit a small bit of positive energy.
Weapon(s)/ Abilities: Rayna doesn't wield any weapons, but she could probably figure out how to use a few small things if she needed to. She was born with a special gift of feeling the emotions of nature and living beings around her and being able to control those emotions in others by giving off her own special emotional aura. If she is feeling a mass of negative emotions, those around her may fall ill and possibly die. However, if she is feeling very happy, she can revive people of sickness and bring vegetation to life. Right now, she is simply neutral. In her neutral, emotionless state, Rayna is able to pull the emotions away from those feeling them. However, she would never wish to deprive someone of a good emotion. If anyone around her if feeling something negative, she would let off her neutral aura and help them calm down. When Rayna forces out her positive aura, it damages her psyche and causes physical internal damage. However, she prefers to press that forward than allow the negative auras around her to bring her own negative aura out. So, when she feels someone else's negative aura, she tries extra hard to keep her own aura a positive force flowing out of her. In order to keep her negative aura at bay, she has to release her regular aura for a certain amount of time at certain intervals during the day.
Strengths: Rayna is able to think quickly and has somewhat fast reflexes. She has a strong mind and is able to keep herself from falling into negative moods unless a truly dreadful situation.
Weaknesses: Although she has a fairly strong resistance, a reminder of the reason she killed may trigger her negative emotions. Although this may sometimes be seen as a strength, to her, it is a weakness. Her body is fairly weak and she is poor at defending herself.
