Zoe Demitris
Race:
"Uhm... I don't participate in any athletic events of any kind. Sorry." (Ahem, that is to say she is a certified human... and a weak one at that. )
Age: 15
Class/Occupation: (Warrior, healer, etc., etc....)
Well, you see, she's still in that stage where she doesn't really know what to do with her life. But back then, she assists with her father's work of being a conman... err, congirl? Whoah, that sounds more like a congo grill or something. So yeah, apart from that she's a student. Nothing big like warrior... yeuck. Her? Battlefields? Dead before she even takes a step.
Background:[/U] (Rough history of character. At least ten sentences paragraph.)
Which do you want; the history of Zoe Demetris, of Taylor Adler, Heather Ricks, Casey Hoffman? If you have chosen the former, then you have picked a winner.
Having a conman as a father, having a name is merely a formality. Is Zoe her real name? Probably not, but it's one of her favorite to use. Her real name is Tabitha; a name she's not entirely fond of, to be honest. ("Having a horrible name builds character!" she could remember her father saying proudly, once. No wonder, right?)
What about her mother? Well, her mother, as of the present... is not present. She was taken away to a psych ward when Zoe was at the age of eleven. It was a rough time in her life, of course. She was close to her mother. In her family of three (her dad, mom and her) they were the closest. They were so tight that she wasn't even able to see that her mother was quite the oddball. Zoe's mother has a great love for the macabre and horror -- aside from that, practical jokes. Having been rejected by her first love (albeit one-sided) because she was "ugly", she never really recovered so she shunned beauty and welcomed darkness. It even came to the point where she bleeds whenever there's a "creature of light" or whenever there's sudden 'brightness'. And so, Zoe grew up simply. Despite being influenced by her mother with the macabre and horror, nothing fazes her that much when it comes to blood and gore.
You're probably wondering how did her parents meet. A conman and a 'scary lady' (as dubbed by many people who have came across Zoe's mother) seemed rather impossible. Especially when a conman's job is to come in and get out without being noticed, while Zoe's mother... well, she radiated an aura of darkness. Practical jokes, that's what brought them together. Zoe's dad would probably never admit this to anyone except to her and to her mom, but she's the only one who have 'gotten him'. In some sense, he fell for her because she was better than him. He saw through her oddities and quirks, and though their relationship seemed doomed from the start, they worked it out.
It was a rather good run compared to other marriages out there that doesn't prevails as much as it fails, that was up until the rather fateful day that Zoe's dad... well, he conned someone he really shouldn't have.
They were the Samora's for a day. (Yes, her mother's love for practical jokes -- and her dad, too, I guess -- had convinced her to actually care about her looks in order to 'do the job'. See, love changes you! Cue the 'aww'.) It was a decent day, too. Everything was going well, clear skies, sun is out but it was even a little chilly. A great weather. After much persuasion, Zoe finally got her dad to take her to a fair. It was filled with interesting things to see, things that Zoe had never seen before. Being a photography fanatic, she was more than enthused when she was at the fair. Unaware to her, her father was actually on his way stealing a rather really valuable looking piece of ornament. In fact, if he wasn't entirely thinking about how much the teardrop-shaped ruby pendant would cost then he would've noticed how suspicious the actual jewelry looks but he didn't, not before it was too late. In the midst of having a picture taken with one of the vendors, Zoe's arm was grabbed ferociously by her father insisting that they go then and now. And so, they run off.
It wasn't long before things started happening. Her mother going crazier than the usual, so much so that she had to be taken to the psych ward. And the Demitris were being hunted down, unawarely by some other group besides the law, police or government. It seemed otherworldly. That was, for the first time in Zoe's life, that she had seen her father scared, his emotions scattered all over the place making him act on impulse. His motto: "a good conman doesn't need a gun; he can leave town anytime he wants to" was failing on him. It meant serious sh*t from then on.
It's a hazy memory for Zoe now, but she was absolutely sure she was somehow sucked to this place. Although her being used to the magic and unexpected made her unfazed when she arrived here in the Diabolic Domain-verse.
So that's her story.
Personality:[/u] (At least ten sentences. Reach all bases! If your character is one sided or does not have a flaw, you will not be approved.)
Her mother's a bit of an extremist when it comes to the things she doesn't like (see: nosebleeding) but Zoe's the type that remains calm and composed in situations that deep inside freaks her the most. Her biggest flaw is her naivety and gullibility, since she lives in a rather sheltered world with her mom and dad (she stopped formal schooling when she entered the age of ten and became home schooled instead), she really hadn't trusted or really communicated with anyone but her parents. (And some annoying relatives.) So being in such a new world like here in DD, it should be interesting. She finds everything amusing here, but when push comes to shove, don't think she won't act like it. Like her mother, people would probably be put off when she gives off her 'dark vibes', like a 'don't come near me!' aura. Zoe may look like the unfocused type, but came time that she's enraged, she'll have tunnel vision. So this makes her pretty much vengeful, too.
You think having a slightly psycho mother wouldn't have any effect on you, but on Zoe's case there is. An undiagnosed and underdeveloped case of OCD. It probably comes out in the times where she's in an extreme emotion or breakdowns -- which is pretty much kinda rare for her. Zoe's the simplistic and idealistic type. She's chirpy and bubbly at most of the time yet calm and collected at others. Having put up with such a crazy set of parents made her seem like the one with the longest amount of toleration for anything. Passive and nonchalant is how people would probably describe her. And yet, this antagonizes her idealistic views and cheerful attitude. In reality, she's probably more mature than she leads on. She knows what's going on and though she wants the best, she's not blind to what's really going on. A realist would've suited her better, especially since she's also very practical and frugal when it comes to finances.
Her father's only talent, as he have told her, was really reading people. That was something that apparently didn't reach Zoe, unfortunately, so from such an early age, they sheltered her. Her father might've sound like an money-grubbing monster from the earlier descriptions, but in Zoe's life, he was the most who had given her many philosophies and advices. He had told her that she was gullible, a word that she actually even asked him the definition of (really, what kind of person would tell a six year old that word?! Zoe could barely get the third syllable out!) and from then she learned never to trust anybody. So far, it had only failed her for a couple of times. No big messes that her parents had to clean up for her.
Weapon(s)/ Abilities:[/u] (Don't go crazy with the abilities.) None so far, but maybe something will come up soon.
Strengths:[/u] (Mental & Physical)
- keeping calm and composed
- being the voice of reason/the one who kinda makes a joke out of everything so in turn makes everyone happy... or annoyed
- photography, her biggest strength!
- durability... though it is not tested yet. (hahaha, it's just like a pack of ever ready batteries! XD)
- being aware of things, because to be a conman you just have to be!
- able to tolerate just about anything -- long patience!
Weaknesses:[/u] (Mental & Physical)
- knowing who and what to trust
- dirt and messy organization... that's her main weakness, her OCD is off the roof whenever those are present
- athleticism... or anything that really involves something physical -- do you not see her small body?
- she holds grudges, and rather vengeful and moody despite looking like she's quite the saint
Appearance:[/u]
Raised up by an image-conscious mother (which is ironic because she claims she doesn't care about beauty but in fact she cares about it... in the other way), Zoe ends up looking quite plain. Short brown hair (the shorter the easier to hide in a wig!), and big blue eyes. Her physical stature is not even that impressive. Granted, all that running away probably made her more lithe and agile than she probably let on, but she's just a short weak human. In physical terms that is. Make up and cosmetics are things to be disgusted with to her, much to her aunt's dismay (who joined them when her mother was entered to the psych ward, even proved to be useful in conning -- she was a make up artist). When it comes to clothing, Zoe personally likes the skull and trendy ways of dressing, like her mother, gothic stuff. But those would've made her stand out, so instead she opts for the simple shirts and jeans. One thing you probably won't miss from her appearance is the camera that constantly slings from her neck.
