Eralk sat at a desk in one corner of the library. From a distance nobody could assume that there was a boy between all the piles of books that layed on the table and around it. He took a book out of the blue and browsed through it. "Vampires... yeah, I know what a vampire is, but I`m looking for a special kind of vampire!" he grumbled as he threw the book he was just reading on the pile next to him which was almost overshadowing him now.
"Okay, again..." he massaged his temples with his fingers "She was definatly a vampire... but why did she had that sudden personality change? Even her fangs and claws disappeared...."
He looked for another book and picked up one after another from the desk, checked their title and threw them away. He didn`t know though that he hit the big pile of books behind him which was dangerously shaking.
Grabbing another book he yelled all of the sudden "This must be it!!" But before he could even open it the big pile of books behind him went in his direction and burried the poor Eralk with a loud slam "ACK!"

"SHHH!!! What are you trying to do?! Turn me in??" A whisper from under the table of where Eralk is using could be heard, just after that sudden book avalanche the boy caused. A librarian walked towards the large pile of books where Eralk is buried, reached her hand inside the pile, grab Eralk by the shirt and pulls him out. "Shush, please. If one more noise is heard from you, I shall banned you from this library for a week." After that said, the woman then returns back to her counter.
A certain half-vampire poked her head outside the safety of her hiding place to take a glance of the retreating librarian, then turns to the boy who just got warned earlier. "Be quiet! Trying to read here." And she's off crawling back inside under the table, grabbing the opened book by her side and set it on her crossed leg. She hovered her left hand on the book, chanted something, and a light glow is emitted from her palm, abling her to read her book in the dark.

Eralk was lifted out of the books by the librarian like if he was a little teenager... wait, he was one. "Yeah, okay okay!!" Eralk tried to defend himself against the librarian. He just found what he was looking for so he couldn`t take the risk of being thrown out of the library.
When the librarian left Eralk was looking around. "Wait... where is the book now ? I just had it before-" The rest of his sentence got lost in a calm desperate scream that sounded more like a grunting because he didn`t want the librarians attention again.
Then he got distracted by a head that popped out under the desk he was using. "Yeah yeah, sorry for disturbing you" he muttered but froze immediatly, after he noticed who just spoke to him, followed by a suprising scream. "WHAT YOU?"

Noticing the retreating librarian suddenly twists around towards their direction, Syani quickly shake off the glow around her hand to avoid the librarian from discovering her. Slowly, she slipped her book off of her lap and onto the floor beside her, wave a strong swish of her whole right arm from her side to the back, and suddenly...
"GYAAA!!!" A scream could be heard from afar as one of the book-filled racks a few ways away came pelting down to the floor, emitting a large source of noise for the extremely quiet library. Of course, hearing that racket, the librarian didn't waste any time to rush there, giving Syani a chance to crawl out of her little hidey-hole.
"What part of QUIET do you not understand??" The dark-haired girl tries her best to whisper that supposed scream out while pushing her knees to stand up. Her annoyed expression slowly changed into surprise as she noticed who this boy is. "Hey...!" The girl slapped her hands on her mouth, reminding herself that was an outburst, not a whisper.
"You're that guy in the Steeple Castle..." Continuing what she said by limiting her voice to a softer tone, the half-vampire blinked in shock. "Oh! I have an important question to ask you, but...come on! We gotta hide first!" Dropping on all fours, Syani crawled back under the table. After a while, she popped her head out of there to call Eralk in, "What are you waiting for?? Do you want to get banned...?"

Eralk wasn`t aware of the fact that the librarian already came closer again but thanks to Syanis diversion she didn`t had a chance to get to Eralk.
His eyes were all pinned to the girl in front of him who seemed to recognize him too by now. But before he could open the mouth the girl already prepared him for some kind of interview and then asked him to hide.
"Questions.. ?... Hiding?.. But you`re.." was all he could bring out. Totally confused by the girls acting Eralk had to decide between hiding with a vampire.... or waiting for the librarian to kick him out of the library. He stood there for a few seconds really not sure about what would be the best...
Then he heard the heavy steps of the librarians shoes coming closer which made him immediatly crawling under the table.
'Geez, what are you doing there...' he said in thoughts to himself as he took a seat as far away as possible from Syani underneath the table while he grabbed a crucifix from his belt and started to cling to it like if it could save him from that awkward moment.
"I dare you to come any closer!" he said to her in a sharp whispering tone while waving with the crucifix in front of him.

"What are you doing...?" Raising a brow at this odd guy, Syani continued staring at him strangely, then towards the crucifix he vigorously waved towards her. "Dude, calm down, I'm not goint to EAT you or something. I'm trying to ASK you a question. That's all."
Trying to calm down the boy by rising her hands up in defence, the dark-haired girl heard the footsteps from the librarian, and quickly gestured for Eralk to be quiet. She could see the librarian's feet passing by the table, paused there for a bit, then walks off. Finding the situation safe now, Syani then turns to Eralk with a smile.
"And by the way, I reject your dare. Why do I even need to come closer, you're a dude, you can shock me by a single touch!" Holding up her index finger, Syani said that in a matter-of-factly tone, while still supporting a smile. "Wait...I haven't thank you yet for saving Roy, right? Well, now I have the chance, so...thanks. A lot."

Eralk was watching the girl in confusion. 'Why.. why isn`t the crucifix working... isn`t she a vampire?' he thought to himself. "Ask me a question.. ? But why aren`t you-"
Pointing at the crucifix now his sentence got cut off by Syanis warning. Eralk shut his mouth and lowered the crucifix and used that moment to calm down a bit, he really needs it.
As soon as the librarians shoes disappeared he opened his mouth but Syani was faster and already started to talk letting him no choice to interfere. 'Shocking her with a single touch.. ? Did she just revealed her weakness to me.. ? I don`t understand anything... shes acting like.. a random girl? No bloodlust, no fangs and-'
Eralk got back to the conversation again as this vampire-girl even started to THANK him now. "Uh... what?!" His cheeks turning slightly red he replied stuttering "Th-Thanking me ? For what? I just.. just did my job and-" Slowly realizing that he speaks nonsense he rearranged his thoughts quickly "Wait.. that guy who was fighting you ? I saved him ?" Eralk asked blinking.

Syani blinked at this silver/white-haired guy, she's never seen someone get surprised when she's thanking that person. Actually, this dude is the first one that reacted like that. So, the half-vampire tilted her head to the side slightly, confused, since now she doesn't know what to respond...until he asked whether he saved Roy.
"Of course you did." Syani blinked back at him. "I'm...not fully sure what happened back at the Steeple Castle, but...well, if you didn't stop me, then Roy....." Her voice trailed off with her eyes, as her cheerful eyes changed rather downcast, cornering to the side as if she's watching a cockroach passing by.
"...Just...thank you, alright? That's all I want to say." She finally raise back her head and smiled once again to Eralk. "...What actually did you do to me, anyway? And uh...does...your foot still hurt?" Syani gulped, now feeling quite guilty at the memory of her stomping on the boy's poor foot.

Rubbing his chin in a thoughtful manner Eralk tried to remember what happened at the castle. Then he suddenly remembered that boy. "Oh! Him! You mean that guy who stopped me from kil-" He stopped in the second as he noticed what he was about to say. Even though he did wanted to kill that girl back then because she acted like a vampire it still feels kind of... wrong to tell that little girl now that he wanted to kill her.
Now Eralk was the one whose eyes were trailing off "Yeah, that guy wanted to protect you..." he said slowly. "And I couldn`t understand why.." his voice had the sound of guiltyness by now.
Now that Syani was smiling at him and thanked him again Eralk got back into his normal mood and raised his hands in defence "Okay, okay, glad that I could help then!!" he said slightly embarassed. "And no worries, my foot is all fine" he added smiling.
"But to be honest.." he continued with a calmer voice "Maybe I did save that boy, but still I didn`t do anything to you. Before I understood the situation you just... changed somehow when that boy fell onto you and..." he stopped in confusion because he still didn`t really understand what happened back then.

Syani eyed Eralk sharply as he answered, stunned about the fact that Roy was trying to save her...even during her vampire phase. She stayed silent after that, Eralk's words after that sentence trailed away through her head. "Wait, he did what??" Her voice sounded kind of loud when she got back her conscience, so Syani quickly slapped her mouth with a hand, poking her head slightly out under the table to scan the area, and hides herself back inside the table.
"I'm sorry. I was staring. You said something about change?"
It took her a while, but now that she noticed his attire, and how he initially acted towards her with the crucifix, its only NOW that it hit her he must be a... "...Vampire slayer...?" Her eyes are wide as her mind echoes that, her hands starting to get cold and shaky, but being her, she tries very hard to keep her smile constant. Trying to get rid of this natural fear. By hiding it underneath a smile. Like her other emotions.
"Uh...question.. ...Are you...a...uhm...a...vampire...slayer...?"

Eralk twitched and immediately raised his crucifix again as Syani yelled at him like that. But she probably missed it since she quickly checked the floor again. So Eralk put it down again and tried to get a hold of himself. "Well, he.. was.. um.. protecting you" he answered not being sure if thats the right thing she wanted to hear.
Then he continued "Changing as in, yeah.. you know...your fangs and claws disappeared..." he said totally unsure what this girl wants from him actually. Since she must has experienced the whole situation by herself....hasn`t she?
Syanis next question made him stop thinking about it though and his childish senses for seeking honour ticked in as he immediately slammed his fist on his chest armor and announced with a uber-proud voice "Yes of course! I am Eralk Wynham from the famous Wynham vampire slaying family!" Being able to get an introduction moment like this made him totally forget about the serious conversation and probably how the young half vampire in front of him would react.

Somehow, the phrase 'protecting you' made her winced slightly. Her independent life before had shapen her to be a sort of freelance in whatever she's doing, including guarding herself from harm. So Syani found that when others took the role of protecting her...she felt uneasy. It feels so...unnatural. Like she's some sort of a weak damsel in distress.
The light in her eyes died down into fear the second Eralk explained about her change. Her pupils shrunk as the girl slowly places her palms on the floor at each of her sides, her knees slowly raise up...as in readying to back away from under the table as quickly as possible. The last thing she wants is another person knowing about her vampiric half...
Though, Eralk's sudden and loud announcement about where he comes from totally attracts faint memories of her childhood. Retentions flashed in her mind bit by bit; the blood-bath inside the castle she lived in, the appearance of a man at the large door killing every vampire in sight, the way he announced he's a vampire slayer here to purify the whole building, the flicker in his eyes when he caught sight of her.....and how calmly he said "Come and live, child." as he outstretched his arm towards her...
Before she knew it, tears are already welling up her eyes and she tries to catch her breath. And that's not the only unsuspected thing she did. The half-vampire literally leaped from her sitting position and launched a hug at the vampire slayer.. "Nameless monk!" She said under her breath before pulling herself away from him, eyes determined and desperate. "Do you know any nameless monk in your family??"

Eralk shrieked out in the second Syani threw herself onto him. His back tightened up and he hit his head against the table which caused his shriek to vanish as fast as it appeared.
This scene seemed just SO wrong. A vampire hugging a vampire slayer. A girl who was supposed to kill, hugging him; the one whos supposed to kill her. His hands raised in surprise behind her back, but not touching her at all.
'Use any chance you get to result in your best advantage' his fathers words rang up in his mind.
'It would be so easy....' he thought as he witnessed his shaking hands watching over Syanis shoulder. 'If I were my father....'
Then she already pulled herself back looking at him with these desperate eyes of hers. Eralk closed his own because he feared that Syani might be able to read in his eyes what he just thought.
"Nameless monk.. ?" he said then as he opened his eyes but didn`t face her. "I`m afraid I don`t... my father isn`t the one who cooperates with other clans so... I don`t know any of them. "

Syani's shoulders dropped as she slowly falls back from Eralk, now about a foot away from him, her head's low in disappointment of his answer.. "I... I see..." The half-vampire then slowly backs away from him, wiping her eyes as she did, then paused as she accidentally hits the book she was reading before.
The dark-haired girl turns her attention to the book before quietly pulls it up onto her lap again.. History of vampires and their clans are classified neatly in that book, her attempt on finding out who are her parents...but..she doesn't have the slightest clue on what her parents even looks like...or even their warmth. None.
The closest parent she ever had was that monk. And she doesn't even knew his name...so what is she doing, flipping the pages of vampire clans...when the most caring person exists in her childhood is that nameless monk... Syani unexpectedly threw that book off, as it zoomed out of the table and hits the floor with a thud.
Bringing her knees up, the half-vampire then hugs her legs and buries her face at her knees, her shoulders continuously jerking up and down, signing she's probably crying. After a while, the girl finally spoke, with silent sobs in between her broken voice, "All...this time. I was... I'm trying...to find out...about my origin.. But...it doesn't matter.. It never matters. Nobody cares anymore,,it's all gone.. I'm going to die anyway..."
Syani finally looked up after that, her face is flushed red by the tears, and her sobs seems to be endless. Her eyes are looking straight into Eralk as she said, "Please slay me now..."

Eralk had to witness how Syani was breaking apart because of his answer. She was holding onto that book which was filled with vampire clans.
'I wish I would finally know whats going on here... she just can`t be a vampire. A vampire would have already killed me within seconds... shes just... a girl. But what about that incident at the castle? And whats her connection to other vampire clans?' Eralk pondered what almost caused his head to start smoking since he could think over the problem again and again there just won`t be any answers.
Then the book suddenly flew away and the girl in front of him started crying with her head resting on her knees. He wasn`t used to watch a girl cry. His body was moving back and forth. He wasn`t educated in cheering people up, so how on earth he would know what to do? He could hear Syani talk between her sobs and then, she faced him. Begging for her death.
"Wha-?" Eralk let out in surprise as his whole body tensed up. "But you... I.. I`m a vampire slayer! I don`t kill humans! Its my duty to protect them!" He evaluated nervously.
"So why on earth should I slay you?" Eralk asked in total confusion. Slaying this girl really was the least thing he would be capable to do now.
