Kieru hiked up Mt. Rei, having only recently been healed from a near death experience in the room of rooms that left her body so weak she could hardly even move for days after she was healed. As soon as she could, she started slowly strengthening every muscle in her body again. The past few days had been hours of training spread out through the day. As much as she could do before nearly passing out. It bothered her greatly that she had been weakened so much.
Every now and then, Kieru had to stop along the mountain's trail to rest her body. She paused at a cliff, bending over to catch her breath, looking over a cliff nearby and decided to sit near the edge.
Kieru sat and removed her cloth sheath that carried her weapons from her back, setting them beside her. She then crossed her legs in a half lotus position and began to breath deeply, trying to calm herself and her breathing as well as trying to notice if there were any overworked muscles in her body to keep her from continuing soon.
Kieru opened her eyes as she heard the sound of wings and some noises from higher up in the mountain. She looked up, remembering something she had heard before about dragons on the mountain. She hadn't payed too much attention before.
Kieru stood quickly, grabbing up her weapons again and placing them across her back again to continue to climb higher. 'Dragons.... What did I hear about them...? That Zephel was a rider, right? What if I were to become one as well? I wonder...' She thought as she walked, ignoring the pains in her body.
'I'd never really thought about it before, but... " Kieru watched up, seeing a dragon fly by. 'Why did I never notice before how incredible they are?' She asked herself in thought as she continued. 'But how would I become a rider...?' She continued thinking as she continued.
Kieru suddenly stopped and dropped to her knees, placing one hand on the ground and the other at her throat as she coughed. 'Shit.... Calm down...' She told herself mentally as she forced herself to breath a bit calmer and remained on her knees a bit longer before standing again and continuing on. 'I have to at least find out more about the dragons. I'm so sick of this...'
Kieru stopped at another rather larger ledge of the mountain, her eyes watering from the stinging of her sore and overworked muscles. "Damnit..." She muttered under her heavy breathing as she sat down, leaning back against the mountain, staring out.
She cringed somewhat as she pulled her knees towards herself, massaging her leg muscles a bit, trying to calm them as well as her breath. 'Almost there...'
She grunted someone in pain as she leaned over her knees. 'Damnit...' She thought, annoyed at her weakened muscles as she then leaned back, looking up. "Not too much farther...." She said a bit quietly, a sort of far of gaze in her eyes.

"Haku, wait!" Taichi yelled after the white fire lizard. This particular one, though not his, was only a baby and needed to be fed. Unfortunately for Taichi, Haku would not make that easy. Sometimes he cursed his older brother, Tyr, for sticking him with the Lizards' Den.
As if to add salt to the wound, Haku let out a mocking chirp before shooting off through the foliage.
"You really should just let him starve, Taichi. He would return when he's hungry." Horus, a large red dragon, said to his Rider's mind as he cruised overhead.
"Easy for you to say, you're not the one who gets scolded at by Tyr!" The young man shot back.
Horus crooned proudly, "Of course, I'm a dragon. A human like your brother can not raise his voice against me."
"He can't, but Orlith can!"
"Touche." Horus blinked opalescent eyes and continued his steady wing beats. It was only when the breeze changed direction that he smelled an unknown scent in the air.
"There is someone nearby. It seems barely alive though..." He warned Taichi.
"Oh, no..." Taichi said before rushing over there, "Last thing I need is to report another wild animal attack so near the Weyr."

Kieru lowered her head again, just in time to notice a small odd looking creature fly past. She watched it a moment before looking in the direction it came from, hoping it was not running away from something potentially dangerous.
Kieru stood and stepped back a bit into a wider portion of the area, lifting her hand to place it on the handle of her sword, just in case as she watched down the trail, hoping there would be no reason to pull it out, unable to clearly see anything from very far at the moment because of how her eyes stung right now, fighting against the pain that still throbbed in her body from pushing it too much in the hike up the mountain.

Taichi darted out of a tall bush and caught himself just in time before he rammed face first to a stranger in the middle of a small clearing. "Whoa! I'm sorry about--- You're hurt!!!" Taichi exclaimed the moment he laid eyes on Kieru.
This was when Horus hovered just above them and almost blocked out the sun, "I already mentioned that it was barely alive wasn't it? Err...her apparently."
Taichi made a gesture to help or at least support her obviously pained stance, "What are you doing all the way out here, Lady? The mountain cats could attack you at any minute."

Kieru was rather relieved to see a person instead of a dangerous creature, but her emotionless expression simply remained present on her face. She let out a small breath as she closed her eyes for a moment and released her sword handle, bringing her arm down to her side. She then looked up at the dragon flying above the boy, sort of staring at it. 'Wow.... They really are incredible...' She thought as she watched the dragon above them a moment longer before looking back at the boy.
"I am Kieru. And that is just a risk I would have to take." She said in her blank tone, ignoring the throbbing pain in her body. "I am training, if you must know... And also...." She looked up at the dragon again. "I was wondering if I could find someone on the mountain to tell me more about dragons." She said, watching the dragon above a moment longer before looking at the boy again.
"Shall I assume this one is your friend?" She said blankly, not appearing nearly as interested as she was. She may have seemed completely uncaring of the subject by her facial expressions, but this was not the case.

"My friend?" Taichi wore this confused expression and was about to answer before Horus answered for him, speaking directly to Kieru's mind, "I am not his friend. I am his other half. Friendship is too light a term to describe the bond of dragon and rider. It will serve you well to remember that, warrior."
"Uh...yeah, what he said." Taichi shrugged, "What do you want to know about the dragons, Kieru? I may be able to help. I'm a Rider too after all."

"My apologies." Kieru said with a slight nod to the two for using the term 'friend'. Kieru thought for a moment. "I suppose I hadn't really thought of specific questions prior to beginning my hike. However, may I ask your names? I believe I've already said mine." Kieru said, watching the both of them.

"Oh! Sorry." Taichi grinned and scratched the back of his head, "My name is Taichi Ryujin. The one up there is Horus, my dragon."
"Hey, Kieru, I think it's better if we talk after I take you to the Weyr. You really don't look too good." He then offered to take her there.

Kieru watched the boy silently for a moment before letting out another breath of air lowering her head for a moment before looking back at him again. "I suppose there is not much of a choice at the moment. Besides, I suppose that was where I would have been heading anyway." She said in her same emotionless tone as she looked over at the mountain.
"Further up, right?" She asked plainly as she turned and began to walk again.

"Hey, wait!" Taichi started after her and placed a hand on her shoulder. "There's no way I'll let you walk all the way up there!"
"Horus!" Taichi motioned for the red dragon, who complied without another word. Horus landed with a thud and lowered himself until his belly touched the ground.
"We'll fly your there." Taichi smiled and nodded genially.

Kieru turned as the boy stopped her, looking at him then at the dragon. "That is not necessary." She said blankly, truthfully feeling a bit odd about riding a stranger's dragon. "I can still walk. I will be fine." She said as she watched the boy. She actually felt as though she would collapse any second, but it was not in her character to accept help, since she would not admit to even to herself how serious her internal injuries were, passing them off like any normal scratch.

"But--"
"Stubborn bi-ped. Taichi let her be, the sooner she dies the sooner the crows can eat her." Horus grumbled and as he did the ground he was lying on shook.
"Will you stop being like that, Horus?" Taichi reprimanded the agitated dragon, "She is injured and I say we take her to the Weyr."
Horus growled and the ground shook even more. He stared at Kieru for the longest time before pushing himself off the ground with powerful limbs. He lumbered towards the injure woman and scoop her up effortlessly with his talons, careful not to injure her even more. To his rider, he said, "Let us go."
Taichi grinned and hurriedly hopped on the base of Horus' neck before the dragon took off so easily that it betrays the fact that he weighed tons.

Kieru's eyes widened slightly as the dragon had picked her up, letting out a slight grunt sound and cringing a bit but deciding not to struggle as she sort of looked away, watching the ground below them. "I apologize if I offended you." Kieru said as she glanced back at the dragon. "And... I suppose I should say... Thank you for your troubling to carry me..." She said almost a bit quieter, watching the ground again.
She hated being a bother to others, so even though she helps those in need, she denies that she would need help herself and would feel indebted to someone who helps her in any way.

"Don't mention it!" Taichi looked down to where she was with a grin.
Horus rumbled, "Don't mention it...pssh...I'm the one carrying the both of you."
"You're the only one who could fly!"
"I should teach you how to fly one of these days and make you carry me instead. See how you like it." Was Horus' sarcastic remark.
"What? You're a hundred times heavier than I am!"
"Exactly." As Horus continued to tease his rider the cave entrance to the Weyr came closer. Soon, he landed atop a platform softly, putting Kieru down gently as he did so.
Taichi jumped off the dragon and hurried to Kieru's side. "Come on. I'll lead you somewhere you can rest." He then frowned, not knowing whether to give support or just let her be.

Kieru stood, calming herself again, giving a slight nod in thanks to the dragon. "If that's okay." She said in her usual blank tone, her face emotionless still as she looked at Taichi again, forcing herself to remain standing, even though her overworked muscles still burned. "I will follow."
