"Okay then but just to be safe put a hand on my shoulder." With that Taichi turned his back towards her, "Horus, I'll meet your in our lair a bit later. You can hunt if you want."
Horus nodded and turned to take off once again. He had been hungry. Maybe he'll find Haku somewhere.
"I have to warn you. You should be ready to duck at a moment's notice. This is a dragon lair after all. There are hatchlings and fire lizard flitting around. Believe me when I say that it hurts when they hit right smack on the face." Taichi told Kieru as he started to lead her into the winding corridors of the Weyr Cave.

Kieru nodded but left her hands at her sides as she followed behind him, glancing all around as they walked. "I hadn't really seen many dragons before..." Kieru said almost a bit quietly in her still emotionless tone, not quite certain why she was speaking, but decided to finish her sentence. "So I hadn't realized before how truly incredible they are."

Taichi turned his head but continued to walk forward, "That's what everyone say." He said, grinning, "Dragons are incredible there's no doubt about that but, you know, they're more than just great, big, grumpy, fire-breathing lizards who would throw their life away for their rider."
"No sirree! They are a lot like us that most non-Riders could ever imagine."

Kieru watched this boy in front of her for a moment before watching around where they were walking, thinking for a moment. "How do you become a rider?" She asked, wondering, rather unusually curious on the subject now.

Taichi arched his brows, "Well, there are a couple of ways but around these parts you have to talk to the Weyrleader so he could set you up as a candidate for being a Rider." Taichi then raised both his hands behind his head and grinned, "But, ya know, ultimately it's the dragon inside the egg that chooses!"

"I see.." Kieru said a bit quietly, looking down for a moment in thought. She thought of the dragon she had just met. An admirable creature, indeed. She thought for a minute of the possibility of having a magnificent dragon companion. Someone to share her life with and fight along side with for what she saw to be justice.
Her thoughts flickered over her comrades from her home village who had died in whatever war that took place there when she wasn't around. Her eyebrows twitched in together for a moment in anger as she wondered who had been responsible for the massacre.
She looked up a moment later, her face seeming blank except for a slight curiosity still in her eyes. "Would I be able to meet this Weyrleader?" She asked after a good couple minutes of thought.

"Yeah, he's just farther inside, follow me." Taichi then bounced around and started to lead her farther inside the atrium of the huge cave and towards the large opening on the other side.
"The Weyrleader is inside there. Just knock and he'll let you in if he's not busy."

Kieru watched where Taichi meant, then looked at the boy for a moment. "Thank you." She said, before heading to the where she was told the Weyrleader would be and knocked as instructed, waiting for an answer.

"Come in!" Tyr yelled from the inside. He was laving some salve on Orlith's snout that was stripped raw of its scales due to a careless youngster.
"There you go..." He patted his dragon's snout, "Hope you taught that hatchling a lesson, Orlith."
Orlith crooned, "I did..." The great silver dragon then raised her large eyes towards her Rider's visitor.

Kieru entered and walked in, heading towards a familiar man and a rather stunning silver dragon. She stopped a good few feet away and gave a small nod. "Hello." She began, her voice void of emotion as usual, though trying to be respectful. "You must be the Weyrleader?" She asked as more of a statement then a question.
"We've met once before." She stated, acknowledging that she remembered him. She looked up at the silver dragon and gave a small nod in greeting to her as well, then looked back at him. "I've come to request a chance at becoming a rider." She stated in a respective manner, getting to the point of the reason she followed the boy all the way in here.

Tyr turned to her and crossed his arms. "Yeah, I'm the Weyrleader and, yes, I remember you as well. You want to be a Rider? You do know that it's no small task. You are requesting a companion that could easily outlive you."

Kieru listened closely to him and gave a slight nod. "I am prepared to handle whatever difficulties may arrise." She said in a sure voice, watching him for his next response.

"How can you say something like that so carelessly...? Prospective Riders nowadays. Thinks dragons are pets." Tyr shook his head disapprovingly.
"She is...alright. I do not sense evil within her. Past sufferings and pain...but not necessarily evil." Orlith told her Rider.
"That may be true but...you know that is not all it takes." Tyr answered the Silver One.
"Why should I consider you?"

Kieru remained silent for a moment, watching them. "I didn't think of them as pets." She said after a moment, then proceeded to answer his question by reciting her late village's oath.
"To guard and protect those in danger, to shelter and carry the weak. To love all living things like brother and sister, to live with all that you are. To give when you have nothing left, to cherish all that you have. To stand strong and tall like the mountains above us, to be flexible and swift like the rivers below. To be just though merciful, to fight only for great cause. To achieve above your expectations, to never give up; to never give in. This is what I stand for."
Kieru finished reciting her village's oath, not faltering on a single word. She had grown up with these values inside of her and not even her greatest tragedy could tear her beliefs away. Her voice as she spoke was clear and strong, respectful to the person and dragon she spoke to and respectful to her fallen village.

"Honorable and admirable, to be sure..." Tyr sighed then continued, "But honor and virtue are not the only things I am looking for."
"We, Riders, are not knights. We don't fight for others nor do we swear allegiance to anyone. We only swear our lives to our partners, both human or draconic. We live lives that no other human being or otherwise cannot possibly imagine. A dragon and its Rider are separate yet one, different yet the same. I am my dragon and my dragon is me."
"Honor and virtue are great gifts, surely, and are something that pleases me but it is the sense of trust I seek. I refuse to let a hatchling enter this life bonded to a Rider who does not want to be completely one with it. We have lost so many hatchlings that way already, their Riders fearing of losing their individuality because the moment a dragon hatchlings breaks its shell, the Rider who touched it would be connected spiritually to the dragon for his or her life. Refuse this, even by thought, would render the hatchling into a great confusion and drowned into a feeling of being unwanted, so much so, that it kills itself."
"Are you willing share your soul with a being far wiser than you are the moment it emerges from the egg?" He asked finally, looking at her intently. Her answer would greatly determine whether or not, as Weyrleader, Tyr would allow Kieru even near a dragon egg.
