Zeph tightened the white headband he wears around his forehead to avoid any sweat falling off and dripping on the sweets and snacks he's trying his best to make. Apparently, his dorm blew up and now he has to work...again. With his evenings occupied with his part-time clerk job at the bookstore, he applied a job at the Oishi Taberou restaurant, to boosten up his income and fix his dorm.
Since the usual dishes in the restaurant is pretty difficult to make, and the manager needed an experienced chef to handle the side and main dishes, Zeph is then placed at the corner of the kitchen, in the dessert department, with a mentor.
Thankfully, the silver-haired's a fast learner, so he quickly can identify the different styled sweets he's been making; Wagashi - the Japanese-style sweets, Dagashi - the old-fashioned Japanese-styled sweets, Yogashi - Western-styled sweets and his favourite to make, Kashi pan - Sweet breads.
After hours of making countless snacks, Zeph is given a 10 minute break, much to his relief. The watch outside pointed out its almost 10pm now, and he's getting tired. He took an available seat there after making sure the customers won't mind, peeled off the tight gloves he's wearing, still with the stain of bean paste on it, and leaned his head on the wooden chair, closing his eyes to just take a breath out of that extensive training session.
'Who knew so many people have such a terribly large sweet tooth....'

Oh, for the love of sushi. Kida popped a salmon nigiri into her mouth and chewed. Then she sighed. She was in heaven. After walking around all day looking for some places that might, just might offer her a decent job she'd come up with a very short list. And that damn mexcian places was definately not on it. On the bright side she hadn't seen all of the town yet so there were other places to look. Also Kida still had a good amount of money left so she wasn't in any hurry to fill empty pockets.
Her tiny pep talk had worked wonders on the irritation that had been about to ruin her mood. With pure joy she popped more sushi into her mouth, but almost choked when she heard a quiet 'kyuu' below her. Discreetly, she glanced down. Since it was a resturant she had hidden Bec inside one of the huge pockets in her low cut cargo pants. As usual, however, he kept sticking his head out.
Kida glanced around and slipped him a little bit of fish and he seemed satisfied. Phew. She didn't need another scene in yet another resturant. So she took another small piece of fish and brought it down to her pocket to feed him, but Bec wasn't interested.
Bec was too busy slowly climbin out of the pocket and craning his neck to sniff at the guy seated directly behind her. "No, Bec...Get back in there." she whispered. Kida tried guiding him back into his hiding place, but his gaze had locked onto one of the gloves sitting on the next table. A glove? Had Bec inherited her fashion sense? "C'mon...No!" But before the words had even left her mouth Bec had snatched the glove and was scurring back to her pocket.

Zephel fluttered his eyes open, seeming to hear something as he groggily lifted his head from leaning on the chair and wipes the sleep out of his eyes... His hand smells like caramel, so he quickly pull his hand away, not really a fan of glucose and all of its brethrens.
Sighing at the time, he felt his way on the table in search for his gloves...and could only achieve one of them. "Hm?" He sat up, looking around, then leaned over to search under the table for any fallen latex gloves on the floor...or was it elastic plastic? Zeph shook his head slightly to shrug off his over-thoughtful mind as he sat back up, eyebrows creasing on his missing glove.

"Let...GO!" she whispered fiercely. Bec had a firm grip on the glove and an Kida was trying to pull it out of his mouth, but to no avail. Whatever the hell was on that glove had gotten his attention. Slathered in fish gut maybe? "Bad Bec, Bad!" But this time she forgot to whisper and it came out like she were a crazy person talking to herself.
I said: Let! Go!" Bec's tiny growl of protest made her want to laugh it was so small, but this lizard was about to cost her dinner. And possibly any future dinner there. Thankfully the elastic--or whatever it was--suddenly broke, snapping and startling the both of them. Not so thankfully it's elastisity had it snapping back and hitting the owner, the guy behind her, in the back of the head.
Kida scowled down at Bec. See what you did! What should she do? Pretending it didn't happen, feigning innocence, might work but had no guarentee. Plus, can you say 'coward'? Yet at the same time should couldn't just turn around and go, 'Oh, so sorry, I didn't really mean to just smack you in the back of the head with the glove my firelizard just stole from you--which by the way is in here when your manager might just skin me for--so I hope a sincere apology will help you forget how stupid I look in front of you right now'?!?!? HELL NO!
So Kida just sort of sat, stuffing Bec deep into the pocket of her cargo pants and waited for the guys reaction.

Normally, Zephel is a very stoic guy, and surprises can't shock through his cold shell...unless continuously provoked. But well, he's half-asleep and somebody just loudly yelled behind him. With a sigh, he turned around, resting an arm above the chair's leaner thing and about to ask on what's the matter...
When this person suddenly rammed her head towards his face, or so he thinks. He's tired, he's sleepy...and his forehead is about to grow a bump. That...is worth to get angry at...if he doesn't suffer from fatigue. Instead, he just rubbed his nose, and dryly said to this girl, "What...the hell...are you trying to do??"

Oh shit, the glove had his hit nose, even worse. Kida turned to him a little and gave a sheepish smile. "Uh...sorry....I thought you might want that back." Thought as to where the other glove had actually gone after all that ricocheing.
With closer inspection she realized this guy looked half-dead. Or half asleep, taking your pick. "Are you okay...?" she felt the need to ask. "I'm pretty sure there's a hotel or something around here if you're....that tired."
Kida felt Bec moving around in her pocket and was thankful said pocket was out of this guys eye shot.

'Want that back?' Zeph repeated that in his head...damn his mind being so slow tonight, he's just so freakin' tired. It took him a while to notice something white hanging onto his nose... Oh great, he found his other glove...half of it, at least. Too tired to care, the silver-haired pull that thing off his face and groggily shook his head.
"No...no, just...we're low on chefs inside, and they're trying to rob my sanity off...giving me extras tasks that I don't even have much experience on... Damn it all..." This is odd. He doesn't usually talk much...or talk at all. Huh, maybe his actions are more uncontrollable than he thought when he's half-dead. "Sorry. Please. Enjoy your meal."
With that much said, Zephel stood up from his seat, pushing the chair he once seated back under the table and slowly dragging his feet towards the back door that is the kitchen. 'Oh yeah...I gotta buy some food for Ryo and ZiFi after this... And a bit for Hikaru...' He reminded himself, always remembering the fire-lizard and puppy his brother's currently pet-sitting now, and forgetting his own wellbeing altogether. He may not noticed, but the way he's walking almost looked like he's about to faint out of exhaustion.

Kida watched and waited for the guys reaction. It was almost like he was stuck in slow motion mode. But when he did answer it was grabbled and a little hard to understand. Kida was starting to think he was more half-dead than half asleep. Or maybe when the glove had hit him it had rattled his brain a little.
"Uh..." Didn't ask why she had the glove, just got up. He'd even apologized to Kida, for no apparent reason as far as she could tell. "Um...Are you sure you're okay?" His lumbering barely counted as lumbering, Kida felt like she was watching a zombie movie. "Hey, wait a second." Kida hopped out of her seat and followed him. "You're two seconds away from collapsing, you can't go back in there."
Bec, on the other hand, was more interested in that other glove that the guy still had. He stuck his little head out of her pants pocket, the flap hanging on top of him. "Kyuu."

"Ugh..." Zeph can't even register what this person just said to him. He can hear a voice, but the words just escaped his mind. What she said was true though, exactly two seconds after that, the silver-haired tripped on thin air, slammed himself at the side of the kitchen door and just leaned there on his right shoulder.
It's only until he heard a fire-lizard kyuu-ing that his senses perked up and he turned towards Kida, muttering something. Zeph blinked, less dead-looking now, and stared at this person before trailing his eyes down to her pants pocket, seeing the creature.
"...You know you're going to get kicked out of here if anybody sees your fire-lizard, right?"

There he goes... Kida would have offered him a hand when he started to trip, but that he'd caught himself on the door wasn't that bad. Apparently the thud had actually brought him back a little. "Did you hear me? You can't go back in there." she said matter of factly with put her hands on her hips.
Kida blinked, glanced down and saw Bec poking his head out where it didn't belong. "Err!" She shoved him back into the hiding place of her pocket as fast as she could, scratching the back of her head with the other. "Eheheh...Yeah...I know." Unfortunately. "He was the glove thief."
"But...that's beside the point. You're still going to pass out."

Zeph arched a brow as this girl shoved her fire-lizard from his view, then looked up to the owner of the creature and shrugged. "Don't worry about the glove." He said, ignoring the last sentences she said, and stuffed a hand on his pocket. Then, he pulled out a small placstic bag, about only the size of his thumb, and handed it to Kida.
"Try feeding this to him." The silver-haired suggested. "I made it from several nutritions found in dog food. One bag will keep him full for 6 hours minimum...though I don't know if it works on your fire-lizard."
Zeph waited for her to take the small plastic bag. Inside it looks a lot like fish food, tiny round pieces of brown-colored substance. "Come on, I have to get back to work." He impatiently said.

Kida blinked at the bag then took it, unsure. "Thank you... But, why give this to me?" She didn't really understand it. It was a nice gesture, a grand gesture from someone that was nameless to her. "What's your name?" she asked, ready to fix that.
She didn't want to doubt the gesture, of course, but somewhere in the back of her mind she couldn't help but wonder if this guy had some sort of motive. Though what could it possibly be? Randomly giving out food to someone? It would be stupid to poison such a thing.

Zeph's eyebrows creased a bit at her question on his reason of giving the nutrition. "What, you're not used of people lending things to you randomly?" He asked dryly, but being Zeph, his tone is hard to comprehend whether it's a joke or not. Though, he answered her next question straight-forwardly, too tired to make up his usual sarcastic remark. "Zephel. Yours?"
He heard the chef who's supposed to be his mentor yelling in Japanese from inside, so he quickly flicks the small bag as it landed straight onto her pants pocket where her fire-lizard is. "Look, sorry, I have to go now. If your fire-lizard likes that, just let me know. Maybe I can start a business and get a third job." He shrugged before turning around and entered the kitchen.

Her eyebrow twitched. I could ask you the same thing. Only it'd be a tongue lashing. And possibly soaking him on accident like she'd done to the manager of the Pistachio. "Ki---" But Zephel left, the door swinging back out at her. Kida caught it. "...da." she expelled on an irritated breath.
Without a second thought Kida walked into the kitchen, following him. "My name is Kida." Since she could feel that Bec was already devouring the food Zephel had given her she felt a great confidence that he wouldn't be sticking his head back out anytime soon. "You said they're low on chefs? I need a job." she supplied. Sure, she wasn't a good cook, but maybe Kida could do something. Hell, maybe she could just make the Nigiri and place the fish on top of the rice.
"Maybe I can help you in return for the random gift. ...And for...hitting you in the face on accident."

Zeph didn't even turn around to look back at this girl as she introduced herself, almost seeming like he didn't even hear her. He just continued walking between some busy chefs running around with some kind of food in their grip, avoiding every one of them. It's until Kida mentioned she needed a job that Zeph swiveled around, eyes wide for the first time that night.
"Really??" He asked to make sure he heard right. Another helper in the kitchen sounds nice, so Zeph can't be pushed around and around that large kitchen delivering this, frying that, cleaning this, stuffing that. The senior chefs are stingy and bossy, a definite nightmare when you're lacking energy.
"You should talk to the manager. He's around here somewhere...you can't miss him." Zeph didn't even pay attention to her last sentences. All he want is to get out of this hellhole as undead as possible. The silver-haired then glanced around in search for the manager, the only man in this horrible kitchen that didn't yell, shout or defeaning the hell out of people's eardrums. Just all smile and unbelievably calm in this hectic place, which is the exact reason why Zeph only mentioned 'can't miss him'.
